The Tote-Part Three

I can't believe how depressed I am about the Tote. It's got me thinking about my life. Is it a transistion period that life and the universe is forcing me to live an old lady existence? Or just that life as I know (knew) it is being taken over by greedy, self serving bastards who gentrify the areas we love with rampant conservatism?

In case you may have missed it, the 7.30 Report on ABC aired a story on the Tote last night.  Good on you Channel 2.

To John Brumby and Co- go fuck yourselves. You go on about alcohol and violence.. your laws perpetuate it because it's profitable. To quote the late, great Bill Hicks -suckers of Satan's cock, each and every one of you...

It Needs To Be Said....

I hate Tony Abbott.

Someone should chop him up and feed him to the pigs.

A blog of note..

And please don't show him in his budgie smugglers anymore. Some of us want to have sex again.

The Good Die Young

Was just perusing The Age online and came across this story: Former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet was placed under house arrest today in connection with the kidnap of two of his political opponents in 1974, a judicial source said. Pinochet, who ruled Chile with absolute power from 1973 to 1990, is accused of dozens of human rights violations but has never been brought to trial in connection with any of them. He has been arrested several times, most famously during 16 months in London between 1998 and 2000. He was also placed under house arrest in October, accused of torture, murder and kidnapping, but was freed on bail early this month. Pinochet, now in frail health, celebrated his 91st birthday on Saturday at his house in the Chilean capital Santiago. He marked the occasion by issuing a statement in which he accepted "political responsibility" for acts committed under his rule.
If he has accepted 'political responsibility',surely this should be deemed a guilty verdict and he should get more than house arrest. I don't care if he is 91 and of frail health. If Saddam is going hang for crimes against humanity, then why is Pinochet any different. I don't support the death penalty, but I think justice should be done for the Chilean people who still have scars from living under the horror of the dictatorship and for the dead, who do not rest. I'm not saying torture him, but he needs to be made accountable and I don't think dying of old age would be justice enough for the people of Chile. God knows that the US government who installed him there (and assassinated Allende in the process) will never be made accountable.
Liberty and justice.... for none.

Accident Waiting To Happen

Hi, Welcome to our new facist state. We have employed a top company from the US and have paid them millions of your hard earned dollars to come up with a new name for our country. It was no contest. We will shortly be known as Xenophobia. Our flag will be blood red and show an insignia of a Muslim being shot by a redneck cop in the back of the head whilst he is praying to Mecca. Aren't you glad we are protecting your freedom by interogating anyone who is a threat to our national security? What are those Muslim women hiding under those black clothes anyway? We have long suspected they are carrying Uzi's and soon we will confirm this. We know you join us will your support, you, our fellow Xenophobes, to stamp out terrorism which threatens the very fibre of this country every minute of the day. Remember, genocide, ethnic cleansing and other terms such as these are just other ways of expressing one thing- freedom. Smile, ASIO is watching. Yours, Big Brother

Why the people of this country make me want to move to a small farming community in Wales

If you're an Australian reading this, you'll then know that we as a 'democracy' had a chance to exercise that 'right' and do something good by voting out that little weasel John Howard. But no, we had to show how ridiculous a large number of this populous are by being sucked in by scare tactics like interest rates (which are regulated by the Reserve Bank, not the government), terrorism and telling our aging population (of which my mother is one and she doesn't believe the Libs for a second) that he is going to make it all fair and right for them. So much for the extra $10 bucks a week in the pension, my mum's already had $20 taken off her for an 'irregularity' in the system. Telstra's up for sale again and God knows what's next. I've had 6 years of this madness and now we had to endure another 3 unless some miracle occurs... let's pray for a scandal of the Profumo/Keeler type in the 60's... image little Johnny being caught in a hotel room, high on cocaine with his boggies around his ankles banging one of Canberra's finest.... who's he gonna blame then?
